Direct Support Professional - DSP 1

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The successful candidate will provide support and care to individuals in a variety of settings, including daily living activities, transportation, and recreational activities. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, as part of a team, and provide person-centered care.

• Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities
• Support individuals to meet personal goals that characterize quality of life
• Provide emotional support and build positive relationships with individuals
• Responsible for the overall supervision, protection, and care of individuals at all times
• Ensure health, wellness, and safety of individuals
• Implement individualized service and behavior support plans
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment
• Assist with daily living activities, including personal care and intimate care
• Teach/develop skills, and support person-centered advocacy
• Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities and medical appointments
• Assist individuals with making purchases and safeguarding personal allowance funds
• Develop an understanding of specialized clinical knowledge for person-specific needs
• Collect, record, and summarize data on individuals' observable behavior
• Observe and report any changes in behavior, or other signs and symptoms, to clinical and/or leadership team
• Serves as a member of a highly effective team, providing feedback and communicating programmatic needs to members of team and maintaining a solution-oriented approach during conflicts
