Job Description
We are hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Queens to work closely with people of all ages who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The position involves assisting individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities, and providing emotional support and building positive relationships.
Requirements
- High school degree or its equivalent
- Ability to meet essential physical demands of position
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Enthusiasm for working with people with I/DD
- Willingness to take initiative and ability to demonstrate positivity, patience and empathy and compassion in all interactions
- Basic computer skills
- Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention – Revised (SCIP-R) certification
- Additional certifications as required by program assignment and persons supported
