Special Education Teacher

Abilities First, Inc. is seeking a Classroom Teacher to assess and support students in a New Windsor, NY school program. The role involves using individualized instruction, IEP development, and coordination with the support staff to ensure student success. This position is part of the integrated services model and focuses on assessment, curriculum development, and classroom support.

Requirements

• Assess students' individual needs using standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.
• Plan and implement instructional programs adapted to the student's age and learning styles.
• Write IEP’s and create monthly lesson plans.
• Manage a classroom environment and provide support for student independence and social-emotional well-being.
• Coordinate classroom support staff and ensure the execution of IEP goals.
• Assist students with various tasks such as toileting, feeding, and orientation.
• Attend professional development meetings and school events.
• Follow agency policies and procedures.
• Provide and maintain appropriate supervision of students.
• Adhere to ethical and legal standards.
