Job Description
The Surgery Scheduler schedules and preauthorizes surgeries and specialized procedures for the physician/medical practice, including pre-op tests, medications, and medical history. They must be able to respond to scheduling changes/cancellations and provide outstanding customer service.
Requirements
- Schedules office, surgery centers, and hospital-based medical procedures
- Pre-authorizes surgeries through insurance companies
- Maintains a surgical log for statistical analysis
- Provides pre-surgical packets to patients
- Coordinating with surgical facilities for special equipment or personnel needed for the surgery
- Ensures all pre-operative labs are ordered and tracked
- Verifies and re-verifies scheduling for accuracy before publishing
- Interfaces with surgery center and hospital staff
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Performs other position-related duties as assigned
