We are seeking a Welding Supervisor (Unionized) to join our team at Aecon. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, administering, and maintaining the corporate-level welding program, supporting both new and ongoing project activities, and contributing to research and development, training, and proposal efforts to advance business development initiatives.
Requirements
- Certificate of Qualification for arc welding
- Ability to manually weld to high volumetric RT/UT standards with GTAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW and/or GMAW welding processes
- Minimum 10 years of industry welding experience with manual and/or mechanized welding arc processes
- Able to read and work off blueprints and fabrication drawings as well as understand Weld Symbols
- Takes pride in work to strive for excellence and instill this mindset to others
- Have a willingness to mentor other welders and trainees
- Practices a strong safety culture
- Must have a positive attitude to develop and test new solutions to solve a variety of technical welding issues
- Must have experience with hand tools, grinders, etc.
- Familiar with welding principles is preferred
- Familiar with robotics or comparable semi-automated and mechanized machinery is an asset
- Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude to be able to work on and maintain basic welding equipment
- Knowledge to develop weld related tooling and equipment is an asset
- Knowledge to operate mechanized and robotic equipment is an asset
