Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Deal reporting)

Affirm is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help build integrations, services, and testing infrastructure for the Deal Reporting team. The team is responsible for building critical capital partner integrations and automating funding processes safely and reliably. The successful candidate will have 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale, and will be responsible for setting technical strategy for the team and collaborating across teams to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are well understood and managed.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin
• Extensive track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of Spark and its inner workings
• Knowledge of task orchestration systems like Airflow or Temporal
• Experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecating existing functionality in a system through the definition of a technical and execution plan
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to support effective collaboration with the global engineering team
