Job Description
After School Matters is seeking part-time American Sign Language instructors to teach high school participants between the ages of 14 to 20. The instructors will supervise and lead students in understanding and exposing teens to the importance of Deaf Culture and ASL basics.
Requirements
- Proficiency in ASL, including mastery of ASL grammar, vocabulary, syntax, and fingerspelling.
- Knowledge of Deaf Culture, cultural sensitivity, and respect.
- Effective teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom management, and instructional design.
- Strong communication skills, including signing fluently to explain concepts, provide feedback, and facilitate discussions.
- Patience and empathy to provide constructive feedback and understanding that learning a new language requires patience and practice.
- Customer Service Skills to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
