The Law Clerk supports DOJ OPA operations by processing incoming clemency petitions and correspondence, and maintaining accurate electronic and paper case files.
Requirements
- J.D. or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year completed
- At least 1 year of litigation experience
- Working knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures/resources
- Proficiency with Westlaw and LexisNexis
- Familiarity with document/file management systems, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging/scanning workflows
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate data entry and issue coding
- Strong written/verbal communication skills; able to work with multiple agencies and attorneys
- U.S. Citizen; able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination
