The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency seeking a Deputy Sheriff I. The Deputy Sheriff I classification is the entry-level position in the law enforcement series, and the selected candidate will participate in a POST-certified basic academy. The Deputy Sheriff I will perform a variety of law enforcement duties, including patrolling an area, enforcing law and order, and serving civil process.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified Basic Academy
- Successful completion of a California POST certified Basic academy within three (3) years of application date
- Valid California State Motor Vehicle Operator's license
- Age: Must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment
- Citizenship: Candidates are not required to be a US citizen but must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law
- Special Requirement: Federal law and County policy requires that certain positions in the classification of Deputy Sheriff I, which require a commercial driver's license and the performance of duties defined as "safety sensitive" are subject to post-offer/pre-placement/pre-duty, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, random, return-to-duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing
