The Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration is looking for one Lead Investigator within the OHS Program Delivery Branch. As a member of a multidisciplinary Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) team, the incumbent leads investigations into fatal and serious workplace incidents.
Requirements
- Lead comprehensive investigations into fatalities and serious incidents.
- Manage all phases of the investigation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and thorough documentation.
- Prepare cases for prosecution and provide evidence in court as required.
- Direct and support an accompanying OHS Officer during on site investigation activities.
- Assess worksite conditions and collaborate with employers to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Take immediate action to control imminent danger situations at worksites.
- Issue compliance orders when employers, contractors, owners, or suppliers fail to meet legislative requirements.
- Ensure employers implement effective controls to address non compliance.
- Pursue prosecution when there are persistent or significant contraventions of OHS legislation.
- Investigate non incident related issues of non compliance, including chronic or egregious violations.
- Perform additional duties as required.
