Engineer, Principal - GES Structures and Stability

ABS Government Engineering Services (GES) is searching for a Principal or Senior Engineer to assist with ship structure, stability and load line reviews. The ideal candidate will develop a thorough understanding of policies, methods and procedures and support U.S. government agencies by performing various classification and certification services for surface vessel.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or other related disciplines; an M.S. may be preferred
• 5 to 10 years of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or a classification society
• Demonstrated computer literacy in engineering software; experience in software related to stability, such as GHS, NAPA, or other equivalent software required
• Demonstrated experience in performing stability analyses in accordance with relevant Rules and Regulations
• Exposed to Finite Element Method (coursework or supervised research)
