Driver (Casual)

The Driver reports to the Kitchen Services Supervisor and plays a key operational role in supporting Belong Ottawa's drop-in day programs across multiple sites. The Driver is responsible for safely transporting food, supplies, and donated goods between all three Belong Ottawa locations in downtown Ottawa; maintaining the organization’s delivery van in clean, safe, and reliable condition; and supporting the effective flow, organization, and storage of donations.

Requirements

• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract.
• Demonstrated experience operating a commercial vehicle safely in urban environments, including during winter conditions.
• Ability to load, unload, and transport boxes and supplies of varying weights.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
• Effective communication skills and sensitivity to the needs of people experiencing homelessness, poverty, trauma, addictions, mental illness, discrimination, or other systemic barriers.
• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and problem-solve during stressful or unexpected situations.
