Armed Services YMCA Hawaii hosts 9 weeks of action-packed educational and recreational camps for children ages 5-12, seeking energetic, accountable Summer Program Counselors to provide a safe and memorable experience for campers.
Requirements
- Implement weekly schedule for assigned group.
- Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each day.
- Identify and respond to potential behavioral issues.
- Ensure site is clean, organized, and free of litter.
- Communicate with parents about participant's experiences and report concerns to program leadership.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records including, incident reports and daily attendance.
- Know and understand emergency procedures associated with the program.
- Know, enforce, and follow safety guidelines associated with the program.
- Attend all in-service trainings.
- Upon hire, completion of online training program and obtain 1st Aid/CPR certification.
- Education classes or experience in youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
- Ability to lead, plan, organize and implement program activities.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
