The Assistant Director, Finance, will lead AFN's financial operations, ensuring compliance, transparency, and long-term sustainability. This role will support financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, fostering a high-performance team culture. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- CPA designation or active pursuit of a CPA
- Minimum 3â5 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, budgeting, and reporting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant federal and provincial legislation affecting non-profits and charities
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and an understanding of their cultural, political, and policy contexts
- Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
