Job Description
The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is seeking a Junior Finance Officer to support finance officers in ensuring costs are allocated according to established procedures. The Junior Finance Officer will perform day-to-day financial activities, prepare journal entries, and assist with reviews of tax returns and payments.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in accounting or another relevant field
- 1-2 years of experience in accounting
- Experience working for a charity or non-profit organization is an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of current and acceptable financial practices and procedures
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience working with First Nations communities
- Interpersonal skills, teamwork, and judgement
- Diplomacy, tact, and decision-making ability
- Demonstrated planning & organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities to ensure timely completion of work within established deadlines
- Strong computer skills in ACCPAC, Excel
