The Lifeguard is responsible for the supervision of PEAC Pool and pool area during recreational swimming hours and fitness and instructional program hours. General responsibilities are to ensure that a safe and enjoyable environment is maintained.
Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units.
- Current American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid (or equivalent) is required.
- Title 22 First Aid or EMT certification is preferred.
- Previous lifeguard experience preferred.
- Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with a wide range of populations.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
- Ability to perform detailed work with accuracy.
- Ability to work in a team setting or independently, as the situation requires.
- Ability to respond to and follow all appropriate emergency procedures.
