Athenian Wilderness Experience Instructor (2026)

The Athenian School seeks seasonal AWE Instructors with experience managing risk and technical components for multi-day wilderness backpacking courses. Instructors will work with 15-18 year old youth, teaching technical outdoor living skills and promoting inclusivity and environmental stewardship.

Requirements

• Current certification as a Wilderness First Responder
• Prior professional experience facilitating team development and managing risk for teens on outdoor education trips
• Experience with navigation, safe portable stove operations, packing systems, and tarp shelter set up
• Ability to teach systems such as navigation with paper topographic maps
