Senior Marine Structural Designer job description summary: Design and develop solutions with a Structural focus for the integration of new sub-systems/components into existing systems. Support the production of technical drawings and specifications to support the implementation of Engineering Changes on board Victoria Class Submarines and other Naval/Marine platforms.
Requirements
- Strong technical skills including post-secondary education; degree, diploma and/or certificate in Engineering technology, or equivalent experience.
- Registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Professional Engineer (PEng) with the applicable provincial association.
- Eight (8) years of experience in structural drafting and design.
- Submarine specific knowledge, such as the standards that control structural design elements of the submarines, considered an asset.
- Experience with creation of Engineering Change Installation Packages.
- Recent and significant experience working with 2D and 3D CAD tools and overseeing the CAD work of others (knowledge in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is a differentiating asset).
- Proven ability to work independently on complex design tasks and to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, including writing formal reports and delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior staff and industry placement trainees (Co-ops).
- You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
