Job Description
The Substance Use Counselor will assist patients through medically assisted programs and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree or higher in fields like chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialization), or a related field with practical experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in specified fields and 1 year of clinical experience (1,820 hours)
- Associate Degree in specified fields and 2 years of clinical experience (3,640 hours)
- Full certification as an addictions counselor from a statewide certification body
- Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check
