Chief Officer/Master (In anticipation of future need)

BC Ferries is looking to connect with experienced marine professionals for future opportunities within its fleet operations team. The role involves various responsibilities, including navigating, supervising, and training crew members.

Requirements

• Transport Canada Chief Mate Certificate of Competency (CoC) or higher
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Extensive knowledge of navigational equipment and techniques, relevant international, federal, and provincial regulations, safety and emergency procedures
• Solid background managing a team of junior deck crews fostering a culture of safety, respect, inclusion, and continual learning
• Proficiency in ship handling principles, stability, seamanship, and deck maintenance applicable to this role
