Benevity is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the evolution of our Core and Business layers within the Benevity Intelligent Impact Platform. This leadership role is central to our modernization initiative and platform transformation, overseeing the foundational capabilities—including User Identity & Access Management (UIAM), Developer Experience (DevX), and API extensibility—that empower our entire engineering organization.
Requirements
- Lead diverse engineering teams delivering core UIAM, authentication flows, and shared business services that underpin the entire platform
- Empower engineers by evolving the
- Partner with the Architecture Office to define platform-wide standards and own the API governance model including lifecycle management and automated quality controls
- Accelerate modernization initiatives by refactoring legacy systems and promoting vertical thin-slice delivery to enable rapid product innovation
- Collaborate across Product, Security, and Architecture to balance modernization goals with operational risk reduction and high-quality delivery
- Drive the adoption of service observability, performance engineering, and multi-region readiness to support high-scale multi-tenant workloads
- Champion an AI-first mindset by building AI-integrated development lifecycles and encouraging continuous skill acquisition across the organization
- Maintain rigorous security, audit, and compliance standards like GDPR and SOC2 through proactive risk identification and mitigation planning
- Build sustainable incident response readiness with inclusive pager rotations, clear runbooks, and defined SLAs for foundational services
- Establish high-bar engineering practices focused on SDLC maturity and DevOps ownership to ensure consistent architectural excellence
- Support a diverse group of engineering managers and senior contributors by fostering an inclusive environment of excellence and belonging
