Job Description
The Vice President, Audit and Evaluation is a senior leadership position responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of a risk-based approach to audit and program evaluation functions at the SCHL.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as accounting, finance, business administration, or commerce
- Recognized Certified Public Accountant (CPA) title is required
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is considered an asset
- Thirteen (13) years of relevant experience in internal audit, evaluation, enterprise risk management, and internal control (minimum 5 years in internal audit)
- At least five (5) years of experience in a senior leadership role including supervision of audit teams and audit programs at the organizational level, and confirmed experience in leading teams of medium to large size
- Confirmed experience in developing and implementing risk-based audit plans
- Demonstrated skills in consultation, problem-solving, and negotiation to establish effective relationships with senior leadership, the Audit Committee, and the Board
- Knowledge of the SCHL mandate, operational objectives, policies, programs, and products, primary interdependencies, and regulatory framework
- Up-to-date knowledge of internal audit and program evaluation processes and control requirements for financial institutions in the public sector
- Strong oral and written communication skills (French and English), including presentation, negotiation, and persuasion to communicate with senior executives of the SCHL, the Board, all levels of government, and client organizations
- High-level analytical skills and confirmed ability to influence and direct a team, initiate change, and gain the trust of senior leadership and the Board
- Ability to synthesize information and develop operational strategic plans
