The Ultrasound Technologist is fully competent to perform all diagnostic procedures for the diagnosis of specific diseases or conditions. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below.
Requirements
- Competent in the technical operations of all equipment in this section
- Assess patients, review orders/chart as appropriate confirming reason for exam
- Prepare patients for procedure, answer any questions and effectively communicate with the supervising radiologist for special instructions and/or questions regarding exam protocol
- Provide safe environment to include infection control guidelines, universal precautions and patient safety goals
- Monitor the timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals, striving for continuous quality improvement
- Perform QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality) prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation
- Participate in the clinical education of student sonographers
- Participate in department’s Performance Improvement Projects
