Job Description
Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. is seeking a QMED electrician/refrigerating engineer to work aboard the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) research vessel, the R/V Lake Guardian. The position involves supporting the safe and efficient operation of the vessel's engineering systems during the ship's 150-270 day operational period, assisting with maintenance, repair, and emergency response. The work is performed at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences Marine Facilities dock in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Requirements
- USCG endorsement as a Qualified Member of the Engineering Department (QMED)
- At least five (5) years minimum work experience as a marine electrician
- Experience in the installation of electrical devices and wiring aboard commercial or military ships
- Experience with USCG and ABS rules for electrical practice
- Experience with marine electrical power generating and distribution systems
