Job Description
Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. (CPC) is seeking a professional Mate to support the EPA 180-foot Research Vessel (R/V) Lake Guardian, which sails extensively throughout the Great Lakes from April through October. The ship is the largest vessel in the U.S. EPA fleet and used to sample water, aquatic life, sediments, and air to assess the Great Lakes ecosystem. The position involves navigation, safety checks, maintenance, and communication with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Valid USCG license for Mate of Self-Propelled Vessels of Unlimited Tonnage.
- Experience as a Mate onboard research vessels is desirable.
- Ability to work collegially with scientists, natural resource managers, and educators.
- Membership in the International Organization of Masters, Mates, and Pilots union (AAP/EEO Statement).
