Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science or related field
- 8 or more years relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods and practices
- Advanced knowledge of metallurgical and production equipment
- Demonstrated knowledge of the newest and latest technologies available
- Functional knowledge of statistics, six sigma and/or BPI practices
- Ability to travel
- Ability to access mill and manufacturing areas
- Demonstrates ability to assist others in the use of statistical methods and provide support to others for experimental design
- Ability to provide training and education to key customers
- Ability to provide support, leadership and guidance to peers, customers and manager in key projects and opportunities
- Ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a timely and effective manner
- Ability to be self-directed
- Ability to serve as a mentor to internal resources as requested
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to initiate and lead and participate in project teams as appropriate
- Ability to reliably and consistently deliver results on schedule
- Ability to use SPC, six-sigma and/or BPI tools to search for and eliminate waste
- Ability to recognize, measure and communicate technical risk and recommend actions
- Demonstrate ability to predict future needs for alloy development
- Ability to identify potential new products, processes and partners
