Central Counties Center for Mental Services, founded in 1967, has served more than 70,000 residents with mental and developmental disabilities across Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, and Milam counties. The agency delivers a full continuum of care—including Integrated Care Clinics, CCBHCs, community behavioral health clinics, early childhood intervention, and mental health recovery programs—tailored to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other behavioral health needs. Over the decades, the Center has evolved from a caretaker model to a sophisticated, evidence‑based treatment organization that adapts to shifting state and federal funding landscapes. Its commitment to integrated, community‑based care and a culture of continuous improvement distinguishes it as a regional leader in behavioral health services.
The Peer Support Spec 2 provides peer support services to clients with serious and persistent mental illness in the criminal justice system. The role involves providing recovery education, empowerment skills, and self-advocacy skills to clients, as well as assisting them in developing recovery plans and navigating community resources. The Peer Support Spec 2 will work with the FACT team and provide peer mentoring and support to consumers, model self-advocacy skills, and provide information, referral, and non-clinical skills training.
