Job Description
The Peer Support Specialist (PS) provides peer support services to clients with serious and persistent mental illness. The PS is an active member of the Jail Diversion – Crisis Residential Facility and functions as a role model to individuals in recovery.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least one year of experience working on recovery and able to manage own wellness
- Must be fully certified as a Mental Health Peer Specialist (MHPS) and/or Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) through the Texas Certification Board
- Ability to speak before groups and in community settings
- At least one year of lived experience with mental illness and/or substance use
