Checkr is looking for an Engineering Manager for its Verifications team to improve accuracy and turnaround time, reduce manual touchpoints, and scale the team's delivery across a complex mix of fulfillment integrations and compliance requirements. The role requires a focus on both immediate system scalability and long-term delivery process refinement, including near-term work on scaling data quality and automation systems to handle rapid growth, alongside strategic, longer-horizon investments in expanding coverage and building a faster, more consistent verification experience for Checkr's rapidly scaling candidate and customer base.
Requirements
- 4+ years as an engineering manager, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
- 8+ years as a software engineer, with strong command of service architecture, distributed systems, and system design
- Experience managing complex third-party integration environments
- A track record of improving operational metrics
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and agentic coding tools
- Experience working on regulated products where data accuracy and legal compliance are non-negotiable
- Strong incident management skills
- Ability to make prioritization decisions quickly, with a clear framework for balancing short-term reliability work against longer-term product investments
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A genuine investment in developing people
