Assistant Deputy General Counsel, Federal Litigation

Chicago Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Deputy General Counsel to represent the Board and its employees in high-profile cases, supervise a team of federal litigation attorneys and support staff, and establish protocols and best practices for the federal litigation unit. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, and at least 7 years of litigation experience.

Requirements

• Supervises, develops, and manages the performance of a team of federal litigation attorneys and support staff
• Represents the Board and its employees in high-profile cases and serves as first chair for trials
• Establishes and enforces protocols and best practices for the federal litigation unit
• Provides legal advice to other law department units, central office and network staff, principals, and school-based employees
• Recruits and oversees the work of outside counsel
• Attends settlement conferences
