Summer Camp Counsellor, Camp Towhee

Child Development Institute is seeking a Summer Camp Counsellor for their Camp Towhee program in Haliburton, ON. The successful candidate will work with children and youth with mental health issues and learning disabilities, providing emotional, social, and behaviour support. The camp is a 12-day therapeutic program that offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth. The candidate will work in a team environment, participating in planning and implementation of camp activities and programs, and will receive 12 days of training in behaviour management, counselling skills, CPI, mental health, and learning disabilities.

Requirements

• 2+ years post-secondary degree or equivalent experience
• Previous professional experience working within a camp environment
• Experience working with children and/or youth
• Experience with behaviour management and supportive counselling
• Personal, professional, or educational experiences in a related field (education, recreation, social work, psychology, etc.)
• Ability to assume responsibility and exercise good judgment in making decisions within the scope of authority of the position
