Job Description
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a Public Health Inspector to work in the Bureau of Food Safety and Community Sanitation. The inspector will make periodic inspections of commercial and social service establishments, enforce provisions of various acts, and prepare inspection reports. The ideal candidate will have technical and scientific skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to carry and use inspection equipment.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 30 semester credits in the physical and/or biological sciences
- An associate degree from an accredited college, with 15 semester credits in the physical and/or biological sciences, and 5 years of experience as a public health technician
- Medical Requirement: Candidates will be examined to determine whether they can perform the essential functions of the position
