The Survey Technologist unit provides municipal survey and mapping services in support of the City's planning, development, and infrastructure activities, and enables the implementation of construction projects led by the City. The holder is responsible for analyzing, compiling, interpreting, and creating official survey and mapping plans and products.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of college community studies in geomatics or a related field, with a concentration in official surveying
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in compiling survey and mapping data
- Certification as a survey technologist with the Ontario Association of Architects, an asset
- Ontario laws and regulations related to surveying and plans
- Ontario land registration system
- Ontario cadastral surveying matrix
- Interactive graphic equipment and software
- Coordinate geometry (COGO) software
- Computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Microsoft Office suite software
- Current GIS software
- Digital cartography methods and procedures
- Survey calculations
- Coordinate systems and reference systems
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety laws, including worker rights and obligations
