Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team and performs psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessments, consultations, medication management, and follow-up appointments for children and adolescents with a variety of mental and behavioral healthcare needs.
Requirements
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited School of Medicine
- Completion of a residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
- Must obtain or possess and maintain Child Mental Health Processional (CMHP) credential within 90 days of employment
- Active board certification (or board eligible) by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Current, unrestricted, State of Michigan full license to practice as a medical doctor
- Valid and unrestricted Michigan controlled substance license
- A Controlled Substance Registration Certificate, for schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4 and 5 from the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States department of Justice (DEA)
- A current and unrestricted DATA 2000 Waiver to treat opioid use disorders from the DEA
- Prior clinical experience and demonstrated proficiency in medical management, crisis, and behavior management techniques for children and adolescents
- Knowledge and experience with interventions used to treat psychiatric, substance use, intellectual, and developmental disabilities and diagnoses
- Working knowledge of medical terminology used in a mental health setting
- Experience with the application of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in health care organizations
- Proficient with computers, Microsoft office products, and the use of electronic health records (EHRs)
- Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and build positive working relationships
- Ability to use discretion and judgment when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature
- Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to be forward thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department

- Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License
