Engineering Manager

Compass is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers responsible for building the core operational layers of the Next platform, a brokerage productivity platform that streamlines operational workflows. The successful candidate will balance technical leadership with people management, ensuring that the team executes efficiently, scales effectively, and maintains a high bar for engineering excellence.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years of experience directly managing and leading high-performing engineering teams
• Strong technical background in building scalable web applications and distributed systems
• Experience with modern full-stack technologies such as TypeScript, React, Node.js, Go
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven systems
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
• Proven track record of using agile principles with multiple teams and products to meet project goals and deliver high quality products
• Excellent communication skills, utilized to collaborate both within Engineering and across all functions of the company to drive engineering initiatives
• Excellent mentoring and review skills to help engineers make technical and career progress
• Exceptional focus on customers by building products that are stable and reliable
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
