Comprehensive Healthcare is looking for a Health Information Management Specialist to ensure accuracy and completeness of health records and enforce necessary safeguards to maintain secure and compliant health records. The position is in-person at the Kennewick, WA location and requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of general office experience.
Requirements
- Ensures that recordkeeping procedures and storage of all health records are done in a manner consistent with policies and procedures, in addition to state and federal laws and regulations.
- Maintains working knowledge of current federal laws regarding HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Coordinates communication and information with other departments.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism when interacting with the internal and external entities.
- Responds to and processes internal and external requests for client information accurately and by following procedures as required.
- Serves as an expert helping to direct release of information and other requests to the proper departments, ensuring resolution.
- Responsible for scanning, indexing and committing documents to the client's electronic health record.
- Performs quality checks on the electronic health record by verifying the accuracy of documents uploaded into the document imaging system and corrects index errors as required.
- Accurately submits petitions and all related documents for ITA and LRA orders to the Clerk's Office.
- Accurately documents in the electronic health record all required data elements related to ITA and LRA orders.
- Schedules appointments with providers as required to complete necessary paperwork.
