Spanish Interpreter - PRN

The Spanish Interpreter will provide patients, families, visitors, and staff access to employees who accurately interpret via face-to-face encounters during designated hours. Spanish Interpreters are bilingual and proficient in English and Spanish with the ability to interpret health care information to and from Spanish-speaking patients/patients' families and Cook Children's health care providers.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare setting
• Current knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
• Previous interpretation/translation experience (preferred)
• Ability to precisely and accurately translate critical medical information from English to the patient's native language
• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation
• Excellent communication and active listening skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
• Ability to interact and communicate with people in-person and over the telephone, often in stressful situations
