Coordinate and direct the development and implementation of aquatics program, supervise senior and junior camp counselors, and ensure quality programming in the subject area.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old to comply with New York State Department of Health regulations
- One year experience as aquatics director or two years experience as a lifeguard at a children's camp or two seasons of previous experience consisting cumulatively of at least 12 weeks as a children's camp lifeguard
- Current lifeguard and waterfront Certification as approved by the Local Health Department
- Have a lifeguard supervision and management certificate that meets the requirements subpart 6-2
- Have a current certification as a progressive swimming instructor, Water Safety Instructor or Basic Swim Instructor or the ability to obtain prior to camp season
- Current CPR for Professional Rescuer certificate or other CPR certification approved by the local Department of Health
- Lifeguard Supervision and Management certificate is required
- Current or ability to obtain a Basic Swim Instructor Certification
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to supervise and organize staff members
- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate
