Deputy Sheriff

The Berks County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Sheriff is responsible for serving and protecting citizens through the efficient execution of state laws and departmental policies. This position involves general duty work, responding to emergencies, enforcing court orders, and maintaining security in the Sheriffs Office. The Deputy Sheriff will be required to uphold the laws of Pennsylvania and the United States of America, as well as the constitution of Pennsylvania.

Requirements

• Pass a high school diploma or GED certificate.
• Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Be at least 21 years of age and a citizen of the United States.
• Possess a clean driving record.
• Successful completion of a Security Background Check and Drug Screen.
• Pass the State Law Enforcement Training Academy and Act 2 certification.
• Pass the PA Act 120 and State Waiver training (if applicable).
• Possess the ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and enduring physical exertion.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Work cooperatively with other agencies on related tasks.
