Custodian I

The Custodian I cleans and sanitizes the Schererville Family YMCA to provide a welcoming space for members. The position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Requirements

• Ensure facilities are attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintain upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• Perform duties including mopping, cleaning and sanitizing restroom surfaces, dusting, trash removal, window washing, vacuuming, cleaning bases of exercise equipment, seasonal activities consisting of snow removal and general cleaning.
• Assist with housekeeping laundry, refilling disinfectant bottles, and restocking closets.
• Record and report all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
• Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
