Qualified Craft Worker (Plumbing and Steamfitting) (37.5 Hour)

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a Qualified Craft Worker (Plumbing and Steamfitting) to work at Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown, Connecticut. The position involves performing highly skilled tasks in plumbing and steamfitting, including assembling, installing, and repairing air, gas, water, steam, and sewer disposal systems. The successful candidate will have four years of experience in the plumbing and steamfitting trade, with two years of that experience being in skilled plumbing and steamfitting trades. The position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, and is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

• Four years of experience in tasks in the plumbing and steamfitting trade
• Two years of the General Experience must have been performing skilled plumbing and steamfitting trades
• Graduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma designating completion of subject requirements in a maintenance trade area may be substituted for two (2) years of the General Experience
• At the University of Connecticut: Satisfactory performance and completion of the UConn Facilities Internship Training Program may be substituted for the General and Special Experience as determined by UConn Facilities Operations and Human Resources Management
• At other state agencies: Two (2) years of experience as a Qualified Craft Worker Trainee in a designated maintenance trade area may be substituted for the General and Special Experience
• Experience performing technical duties within the plumbing and steamfitting trade area on a military base, aircraft carrier or large compound may be substituted for the General and Special Experience on a year for year basis
