Job Description
Eaton's Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join their team in Raleigh, NC. The role will involve supporting product development and design of high-power three-phase UPS's, as well as working with cross-functional engineering teams to design and develop new products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hardware design of power electronics-centric products and will be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum two (2) years work experience in power electronics
- OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year work experience in power electronics
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
- Experience with Inverter theory/knowledge, knowledge battery systems and protective devices including power distribution
- Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power electronics, and power conversion topologies
- Passion for learning, growing, and working in a collaborative team environment
- Experience applying digital control and algorithms to power electronics systems
- Understanding of Magnetics Design for high frequency Power Electronics
- Ability to simulate, analyze, troubleshoot using HIL systems
- Competent with Matlab/Simulink/PLECS and PSPICE
- Analyze and simulate power electronics systems from board level to complex products
- Familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence, etc.
- Understanding of layout design principles
- Work in lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical
- Excellent verbal/ written communications
- Self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements
- Familiarity with common tools and methods to work in high power lab (480V) environment, oscilloscope, power analyzers and meters
