The Freight Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and secure movement of materials, equipment, and personnel throughout the building.
Requirements
- Run all Freight elevators in the building
- Ensure all Visitors have security clearance before accessing freight
- Stand for long periods of time without a break
- Pick up trash and bring it to designated area during the day
- Assist contractors with loading and unloading elevator
- Push container to and from cars that weigh in excess of 100lbs
- Move control levers or push buttons to control movement of the elevator
- Transport freight from elevator to designated area using hand truck if needed
- Work overtime hours if needed for projects including construction projects and/or Tenant moves
- Clean up freight areas and landing after construction/ demo projects and ensure all landings are mopped clean before leaving
- Move/ lift heavy materials (construction containers)
- Contact management for any delivery that is not authorized
- Monitor removal of material from Building
- Ensure building passes are current and approved by BMO
- Periodically spot check and mop interior stairwells as needed
- Operate elevator to transport materials, equipment and/or passengers between floors of the building
- Respond to calls going up and down as needed; give passage to building staff, construction workers and daily deliveries
- Periodically clean and vacuum elevator tracks to ensure proper door closing at elevator landing
- Assist deliveries being pulled into freight/ pushed out on floors, if needed
- Assist staff in inclement weather, up to and including snow removal (shoveling/ snow blowing, de-icing, etc.)
- Use additional force to operate/ close freight doors when needed (interior updraft)
- Provide detailed accident reports to Management, when needed
- Obtain Fire Safety Director Certificate (FSD) if needed
- Work as directed by supervisor
