Job Description
EQT is seeking a Compression Optimization Engineer to serve as the primary engineering resource for assigned compressor stations, troubleshooting mechanical and operational issues, and implementing reliability improvements to maximize throughput, efficiency, and equipment life.
Requirements
- 0–6+ years of direct experience supporting field compression assets in gathering or transmission systems
- Deep working knowledge of reciprocating compressors and large-bore gas engines
- Experience with CAT and/or Waukesha engines, including ignition timing, detonation management, and emissions control systems
- Ability to interpret vibration data, oil analysis results, and performance trends to proactively address issues
- Working understanding of compressor control panels, PLC logic, and SCADA data — with the ability to connect data trends to mechanical realities in the field
- Comfortable working outdoors, in compressor buildings, and during major maintenance events
- Ability to make sound technical decisions in real-time operational situations
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and the ability to lead by example in field environments
