The Direct Support Professional works with children and adolescents in a residential treatment setting, ensuring the implementation of treatment plans and providing therapeutic parenting. They act as a positive role model, teacher, mentor, and friend to help individuals lead safe, full, and independent lives.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Current, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (preferred)
- Responsible for day-by-day care of the children in the program
- Develop, supervise, and run activity sessions
- Accompany clients on trips and outings and supervise activities
- May be called upon to work one on one with a client who is displaying significant stress or assist with management issues
- Perform therapeutic restraint if required
- Drive the child to medical, social, or other necessary appointments or assist in returning clients to the campus who are AWOL
