Engineering Physicist 1

Join the Fermilab team as an Engineering Physicist in the Applied Physics and Superconducting Technology Directorate (APS-TD) to design, develop, deploy, and maintain software and hardware systems for magnetic measurements and data acquisition. The role will support major accelerator and detector initiatives, including the Muon-to-Electron Conversion Experiment (Mu2e), the Accelerator Upgrade Project (AUP) for CERN, and the High Field Vertical Magnet Test Facility (HFVMTF).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical discipline (e.g. Physics, Engineering) and 0-3 years’ experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfort in tackling first-of-a-kind challenges
• Knowledge, familiarity, or experience with some of the following: Electronics, Data acquisition systems, electronic test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes), Programming languages: C++, Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Artificial intelligence, machine learning, RedHat/AlmaLinux system administration, FPGA programming, Industrial communication protocols (Modbus, etc.)
