Engineering Physicist II

The Engineering Physicist II will support the design, development, testing, and commissioning of beamline and beam delivery systems for Fermilab’s Industrial Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) accelerator programs. This role blends physics analysis and engineering design, contributing to beam transport, beam delivery mechanisms, beamline instrumentation, and the mechanical integration of accelerator subsystems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience in accelerator systems, beamline design, vacuum systems, or instrumentation.
• Working knowledge of charged particle beam physics and beam transport fundamentals.
• Experience with particle accelerators (operation, design, or subsystem development).
• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar) for mechanical and beamline component design.
