Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist 1

The Surgical Technologist 2 prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures, follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures, and performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment.

Requirements

• Ensure proper equipment, instruments and supplies are provided for procedures and specialty areas.
• Follow proper sterile techniques and maintain a sterile field at all times.
• Follow the proper procedure for counting of instruments, sponges and sharps.
• Check instrumentation for accuracy prior to procedure for proper functionality and maintained throughout procedure.
• Assist in the positioning of patients as needed.
• Ensure recommended AORN guidelines are followed at all times.
• Actively respond to emergency situations and/or trauma procedures in the OR.
• Anticipate being asked to volunteer, when applicable, to stay late and call shifts.
• Serves as preceptor for new team members.
