The Clinical Laboratory Scientist Generalist is accountable to the Administrative Director of the laboratory or a laboratory supervisor. The CLS-G will work cooperatively in conjunction with the Laboratory Director, Lab Supervisors, Pathologists and fellow employees in order to assure high quality laboratory services for all age groups from infants to geriatric.
Requirements
- Perform all high complexity procedures in all areas of the clinical laboratory
- Complete all work according to policy and procedure
- Assure that all specimens are properly identified and of acceptable condition for accurate results
- Perform all procedures in the laboratory regardless of difficulty
- Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and capable of taking the annual inventory
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of all policies and procedures
- Capable of assessing and correlating new procedures that are to be implemented in the laboratory
- Capable of assisting with certification inspections (CAP, JCAH, etc.)
- Capable of being trained as an LCDM (laboratory information system analyst)
- Capable of taking call for the laboratory/blood bank if necessary
