Job Description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in supporting hurricane response efforts in Florida by providing essential medical care and treatment to individuals affected by the disaster within a shelter setting.
Requirements
- Assist Registered Nurses in conducting patient assessments, including physical examinations and health history reviews, to determine their medical needs, with a focus on the common health issues encountered in a shelter environment.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians or within established protocols, including managing medication administration for a large number of shelter residents, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition, and report any changes or abnormalities to the appropriate medical personnel, including the ability to quickly identify and triage patients with urgent medical needs.
